Provider Relations Overview

MHC considers our provider network one of our most valuable assets. MHC is proud of the collaborative relationships we have with our network and we are always open to feedback from our providers as we strive to improve our policies, programs and processes.  MHC also communicates with our provider network regularly via our provider newsletter and continuing education offerings.

Part of our commitment to quality is maintaining a comprehensive network of providers and facilities for our enrollees. MHC maintains a network of over 2,100 providers, including outpatient providers and facility-based providers.

The Provider Relations department is responsible for network development, credentialing, provider orientation, and monitoring provider compliance with MHCs policies and procedures. The Provider Relations department is also responsible for conducting site reviews and record audits in some practices to insure compliance with MHC’s record keeping standards.  MHC does not wish to interfere with the clinical process, therefore we do not micro-manage treatment.  Provided sound clinical rationale is used, treatment decisions are left between the practitioner and the patient.

Network adequacy is measured against covered lives in each geographic area to determine that sufficient numbers of providers are available to meet the demand for services. Prior to joining the MHC network, providers must be contracted and credentialed.  Credentialing is handled by the MHC Provider Relations department which performs primary source verification including education, licensure, board certification, malpractice liability coverage, and DEA registration (if applicable). After all primary source verification is complete, MHC’s Quality Assurance Program is responsible for the final approval for credentialing.

Any Provider questions or concerns should be directed to the MHC Provider Relations Department by phone at 215-343-8987 x1201 or via e-mail at
