General Billing Information
MHC manages carve-out behavioral health benefits. To provide in-network services to our members you must be directly contracted with MHC, not the client’s major medical insurance. To distinguish that MHC manages the client’s behavioral health benefits, MHC’s phone number is listed on the back of the major medical insurance card under Behavioral Health. Please note that the behavioral health insurance identification number is not the ID number on the front of the client’s major medical insurance card. Instead, for all behavioral health claims, you need to utilize the policy holder’s social security number. All claims should be submitted directly to MHC via mail, fax, or electronic submission.

MHC is an established Behavioral Healthcare Network, serving the members and dependents of self-funded ERISA Healthcare Plans. MHC adjudicates behavioral health claims and sends them to the appropriate Health & Welfare Fund for reimbursement.
Please note that the behavioral health identification number for MHC members is the benefit subscriber’s social security number. All claims submitted with the major medical insurance identification number will be return.
We offer a variety of methods to submit claims to support our providers’ submission preferences.
MHC accepts electronic Behavioral Health Claims (known as Professional (837P) and Institutional (837I) 837 files) through Change Healthcare (formerly Emdeon). Please utilize Payer ID 37050 to submit claims to Payer Name Mental Health Consultants Inc. Please see our Electronic Claims Submissions Procedures for more information or if you are interested in submitting claims electronically. Electronic claim submission may potentially speed up the processing and payment of your claims.
MHC accepts request for reimbursement on the appropriate CMS-1500 or UB-04 Claim Forms. Paper claims may be submitted to MHC by mail at 3031-A Walton Road, Suite 300, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462 or by fax at 215-343-8983. See our Claims Filing Procedures for more information.
MHC is not an insurance company. Please allow up to 6-8 weeks from the date that MHC receives your claim to receive payment. If you have a question regarding a payment you received, please call 215-343-8987 and follow the phone prompts to speak with our claims department.
To keep our provider directory current and accurate, please update us with any changes associated with your contracted Tax ID Number by completing our Provider Information Update Form.
Nationally recognized quality standards require behavioral health providers to recredential every three (3) years. Periodically reviewing and verifying your professional credentials helps MHC maintain current information allowing us to offer referrals that will best match the needs of our members to your specialties.
